Another week has flown by, and after working hard to keep my two grandsons entertained these past two weeks, I leave tomorrow for a quick visit to the US so I can see the rest of the family who were not able to travel to Umbria this year due to illness. These past two weeks we visited Dario Cecchini in Panzano, spent a packed full day in Florence, explored Umbria’s largest antique market in Pissignano, visited Gubbio and had lunch at Da Baffone, and cooked all my grandson’s favorite foods on the days we were at home. And we did this all during scorching temperatures, or what they affectionately call “an African heat wave.”
My youngest grandson LOVES to help out, so he and I picked vegetables from the garden each day and blanched bags of beans for the freezer, made a few jars of pickles and some tomato sauce, and baked some treats. My oldest grandson has started cycling, so my husband took him for longer and longer rides through Umbria, riding to Montefalco, Todi, and today they are riding to Lago Trasimeno. I think I am looking forward to our long ten-hour flight tomorrow, so I can relax and rest!
